Welcome to
Wigmore Valley
Air Scout Group

What is Scouting?

In Scouts we love to give things a go! Yes, we go camping, hiking, swimming, abseiling, cycling and canoeing. But we also get to hang out with our friends every week:  having fun, playing games, working in a team and taking on new challenges.

Every week Scouting helps to give young people the skills they need for school, college, university, the job interview, the important speech, the tricky challenge and the big dreams: the skills they need for life.

Everyone’s welcome here. All genders, races and backgrounds. Regardless of your child’s physical ability – there’s a Scout adventure out there waiting for them. And we’ll help them find it..

About Us

We meet on Monday evenings at Wigmore primary school

Air Scouts are much like all other Scouts: we follow the same principles and programme, but we have a greater emphasis (in the Scout section at least) on aviation-related activities. Our Scout uniform reflects this, with the air force blue shirts, berets and unique Air Scout badge. The Beaver and Cub uniforms are identical to all other groups’ uniforms.

Ages 6 - 8

Beaver Scouts are our youngest members. They meet weekly to take part in a wide range of activities including games, crafts, singing, visits and good turns, along with plenty of outdoor activities. They have the opportunity to take part in the fun and excitement of camps and sleepovers.

Ages 8 - 10½

The Cub Scout Pack is split into smaller groups called Sixes. Cubs take part in a wide range of activities designed to be interesting and challenging. A Cub Scout meeting consists of games and activities with plenty of time spent outdoors. Camps are some of the most memorable events of the year for Cubs.

Ages 10½ – 14

Our Scout Troop consists of small units called Patrols, led by a Patrol Leader. Outdoor activities including camping are extremely popular. Throughout the year, the Scouts learn various skills, such as map reading, camp cooking and first aid in preparation for camps. Rock climbing, archery, flying, photography and shooting are just some of the things they get up to.
